CIGE provides a free information and referral service on topics such as health, child care resources, support groups, legal issues, neighbourhood issues, consumer issues and much more. Referrals can be made to appropriate government and community services, and other not-for-profit organisations.

We distribute food, food vouchers and other assistance on an emergency basis to local residents who are in financial crisis. Trained personnel, most of whom are volunteers, handle such matters confidentially, in a caring and compassionate manner.

Clients experiencing multiple crises may be given additional support through our generalist case worker.

The No Interest Loans Scheme (NILS) provides interest free loans for individuals or families living on low incomes. It's a community-based program that enables people to access fair, safe and equitable credit for the purchases of goods and services.

CIGE participates in this scheme by assisting with applications.

CIGE maintains a database of organisations seeking volunteers, offering a wide range of roles and activities. We also support local organisations using volunteer workers. For more information, go to our Volunteering page.

During tax season CIGE offers assistance with the completion of tax returns for those on low incomes.

This service provides practical volunteer support such as assistance with shopping and transport to frail aged people and people with disabilities in the Glen Eira area. For  information contact the coordinator on 9571 8622.
